Editorial policy
Scope

Management research is at a crossroads of disciplines, so articles dealing with organizational theory, strategic management, organizational behavior and related topics are clearly welcome. Organizational research that draws upon reference disciplines like sociology, psychology, philosophy, history, communications, artificial intelligence, cognitive sciences, linguistics, semiotic is also of interest.

While there is no restriction on style or content, papers must contribute to building and enriching the corpus of knowledge in management in a coherent and cumulative manner. Research implications and/or managerial implications should be explicit and persuasive. Empirical and/or theoretical research will be clearly conceptualized, linked to actualization efforts and will offer new propositions.

Submitted articles will be evaluated for congruence with M@n@gement editorial policies. Papers can utilize different methods and approaches, can examine methodological and/or conceptual questions, and must make substantive theoretical and/or empirical contributions.

You are welcome to take advantage of the electronic support: we can publish papers with pictures, videos, simulations...
The number of pages is not specified, but the article will be evaluated, amongst other criteria, on its length-to-contribution relationship.

We have four publication formats : articles, research notes, book reviews and the Unplugged series.

Articles are the main publication format in M@n@gement. There is no size limit for articles submitted to M@n@gement. However, as in most journals, we consider that a given topic can usually be covered in less than 40 pages.

Research notes are a format where theoretical ideas can be expressed, or where results from interesting empirical research can be discussed even if there is not enough material for a full article. A research note should contain a maximum of 6000 words, including references. Research notes will be double blind reviewed like full articles.

Book reviews allows for a synthesis, a critical analysis and an original reading of a recently published book. The book review should contrast its contents with existing literature and emphasize the main contributions by including precise references. A review runs between 3500 and 4500 words. Book reviews are assessed by the book review editor. In some cases, he may call upon one or two referees to assist him with the reviewing process

In the "Unplugged" series of M@n@gement we grant a wild card to world-class scholars to share their own perspective on novel ways to conceive of management today. Authors have to be invited to submit to the series by one of the editors. The editorial committee will conduct the evaluation process.

Publication policy

Publication cycle. It is a continuous process. We have no backlog: articles are published on the Internet as soon as they have been accepted.

Evaluation process. Articles are selected by a double blind evaluation process. Reviewers are chosen both for their skills in the field research and their knowledge of the language of the submitted article. Authors can also propose a short list of possible reviewers. We will make every effort to select at least one reviewer from the list, depending on the appropriateness of their qualifications and their availability.

Publication exclusivity. M@n@gement publishes only original papers. Authors agree not to submit their article simultaneously to others reviews.

Publication language. If accepted for publication, and if the article was submitted in a language other than English, the new editorial policy demands that authors provide a professional translation into English at their own expense.

Manuscript preparation

Like all journals, we have strict rules for manuscript preparation. However, unlike most journals, we enforce those rules only upon acceptance. Download our styleguide (70 Kb)

Upon submission, it's alright to follow any standard rules, such as APA Manual of Style, Academy of Management Journal or Administrative Science Quarterly.
As long as your manuscript follows the five points below, fine with us:

  1. The manuscript should be anonymous: no cover page. The title page should include the title and an abstract of no more than 300 words.
  2. Double-space everything but references.
  3. Tables and figures should be titled, integrated in the text, and referred to in the text.
  4. Keep footnotes at a strict minimum: If they are important, include them in the text; if they are not so important, remove them. Should you want to use some, they should be at the bottom of the appropriate page.
  5. References used should be acknowledged and include, in brackets, the authors' names and the year of publication. Include page numbers for quotes. Avoid references to or citations of unpublished papers. References should begin on a separate page headed "REFERENCES".

The original manuscript must be transmitted as an electronic file via our web-based editorial management system.
